wcoop update 2

oops I did it again... I spewed away a good stack in a Wcoop Event.

This time it was the $320 NLHE Event (WCOOP-19) where 1st pays $132'436.00...

Actually I didn't spew away just once but twice.

First hand I totally got carried away against a villain who had played back at me in a pretty obv spot, so I expected to bump heads with him in the future. Still it's a VERY bad hand... I really can't figure out how I got to call off his riverbet here... Without history the river is a CRYSTAL CLEAR FOLD...

After that I got caught in the spur of the moment and the following happened. It's the same villain I had succesfully 3barrel bluffed before, just here its a bit different. I decided to donk out with the gutshot and a backdoor-flushdraw. On the turn I felt like it was really the time, where I could get him to fold out some of the hands that had me beat (pocket pairs like JJ,TT, 88-66, weak Queens and Ace highs). Obviously I would've prefered the 2 of clubs over the 2 of hearts, but what are you gonna do... On the river I considered leading out pot, so I would be putting villain to a tough decision and maximize fold equity. I ended up betting a half-assish amount, just because I was trying to accomplish my goal with the least amount of chips and rep a regular value bet...

The problem is, I'm not repping too many hands (betting the King river like that) AND villain and me got history (the 55 hand, which didn't go to showdown)... It isn't optimal to loose half your stack with almost 50 big blinds in a tournament like that and definately it's totally unnecessary. I feel like it's not the worst play in the world, BECAUSE villain should not expect us to three-barrel-bluff him shortly after we got a 3barrel through against him. And as you can see in the results, I'm pretty confident he would've been folding to a potsize bet, just holding a mediocre queen. I could actually imagine him more often folding to a thin valueish looking 4696 bet than to the two-thirds pot sized bet I chose in this hand.

I still have to note though, that I was a bit suprised by his call. He had one of the hands I was expecting him to either fold on the turn or at least by the river. But I guess he really took the hand that had went down before into his equasion here. I mean, what do I ever have, apart from total air and my actual hand, that doesn't have him beat? The most apparent drawing hand on that kind of a board is JT which gets there by the river... But with betting the river I'm narrowing my range to straights (JT), two pairs and sets. That just might have been what got him to look me up.

(I'm not sure why the hand histories I include in my blog posts look different every time, but I must've be mixing up the converters and formats so far, only possible explanation :P )
